REGISTRATION information for winter 2025/2026 Season

Registration for the 2025/2026 winter basketball season will open on September 15th, 2025.  The 2025/2026 Basketball Season Registration is open to current 1st to 6th graders only.  Seventh and eight graders will have a chance to register in November.  You should register your child for the grade level they are in as of the 2025/2026 school year.

Hello everyone and welcome to SL Youth Basketball for this upcoming 25/26 winter season.  Registration will open September 15th to October 24th.   Below is a brief description of what will be offered this season. As always feel free to email us with any questions.

Volunteers:
WE NEED VOLUNTEERS! Please note that the season cannot start without volunteer head coaches and assistant coaches. This includes all levels of play. Without help from parents it will delay the season starting and potentially games being played. We ask that anyone who has interest, even if you have never coached before, please mark the registration (yes) for coaching and we will reach out with support and information on next steps. Thanks in advance for helping make this possible.

Recreational Level Basketball:
Recreational basketball offers players basic instruction about the game, strategies, and ball skills. Rec goals include player improved physical fitness, fun, and social involvement. Rec is open to all levels of experience. It will be offered at grades 1st thru 6th grade for both boys and girls. At the 3rd thru 6th grade level these teams will be formed via draft and will compete in cross league play with other SL teams as well as teams from Salisbury and Saucon Valley. They will practice 1-2x per week and will play games on Saturday's or Sunday's (pending gym time availability). At the 1st and 2nd grade levels we will be offering a Skills and Drills program. This level will be a basic introduction to the game with a large emphasis on ball skills and shooting form and will include scrimmages against other 1/2 teams.

Travel Level Basketball:
Travel basketball offers a more competitive environment of play for more experienced players looking to improve their skills to the next level of play. Travel basketball is offered for grades 3rd thru 6th grade in both boys and girls. Travel teams are formed through competitive tryouts and depending on a players experience and team sizes cuts may occur. If your child is cut, they will still have the opportunity to participate in our recreational league.  We will form as many teams as possible to offer all kids an opportunity to play that can compete at the travel level. There are two travel leagues. The first is the LVKBL, where we will enter all our "A" level teams, and possibly some "B" level teams. The second is the Rising Stars Leagues, where we will enter our "B" and perhaps "C" level teams. These teams will also practice 1-2x per week and play games on the weekends. Travel is typically within 20-30 minutes of SL with an occasional trip longer than 30 minutes. Anyone cut or not making a travel team will automatically be put into our rec. league.

7th/8th Grade Basketball:
All players at this age will compete on a travel team. The players that make the MS basketball team that also want to play travel basketball (which is encouraged by the MS coaches) will play together in the LVKBL league. Any players that do not make the MS team will be put together and play in the Rising Stars League.
